Diversity Is Key Feature of New Pledge Class
The current pledge class shows great promise in maintaining the hallmarks of Beta Delta: diversity, leadership, and accomplishment. The pledges originate from all parts of the country, including California, Florida, New York, and Virginia, to name just a few.
Academic Excellence
Not surprisingly, the class displays an incredible range of academic interests including, but not limited to, policy analysis, management, nutritional science, biology, and operations research and industrial engineering.
It is this diversity that will enable the future brothers to lead Beta on the right path with know-how and vitality.
Big Red Athletes
Four of this year's pledges are keeping with the spirit of the Big Red and are competing in Cornell sports. Their dedication to both academics and athletics exemplifies the well-rounded character we seek in our members.

Geographic Diversity
Our pledge class represents the national reach of Cornell University and Beta Theta Pi, with members from:
- • California
- • Florida
- • New York
- • Virginia
- • And many other states
This geographic diversity brings varied perspectives and experiences to our brotherhood.
Beta Spirit in Action
As a member of the pledge class, I have seen firsthand on many occasions my pledge brothers continuing in the tradition of Beta Delta. Of particular interest was the gathering of alumni, brothers, and pledges on the weekend of January 31 to discuss the agenda for the house.
Not only were meetings held, but social activities and dinners allowed everyone to talk about the past, present, and future days of Beta. It is times like these that keep the Beta spirit alive in pledges, brothers, and alumni alike.
Season Wishes
We wish the current competitors the best of luck and hope for a great end of season. Their commitment to excellence both in the classroom and on the field exemplifies the Beta Theta Pi values of developing the whole person.
Preparing for the New Millennium
The Beta spirit is what will allow our pledge class to follow in the tradition of great leadership and accomplishment. What we as a class will learn from alumni and brothers will be passed down to future brothers of Beta Delta.
The class can only continue to develop qualities that will bring Beta into the new millennium with great reputation and unyielding vigor.
